Bearpen Mountain 3600'

Bearpen Mountain
USGS Map: Prattsville
NY-NJ Trail Conference Map: None
Order of Height: 29
Access: Via Bushwhack
Description: Bearpen is the northwestern most high peak. It is also one of two peaks outside the Catskill Blue Line. Its summit was logged, resulting in dramatic views north and west over the Schoharie Valley. Its summit was once home to a downhill-ski run, and there is evidence of abandoned equipment.
Bearpen is frequently climbed with its neighbor, Vly Mountain. Usual access is via Halcott Mountain Road either from the north or south, though access is also available from the west.
Remember that areas on Bearpen are on private property, so please respect the landowners rights.
