North Dome Mountain 3610'

On the summit of North Dome
USGS Map: Lexington
NY-NJ Trail Conference Map: #42
Order of Height: 26
Access: Via Bushwhack
Description: North Dome is the first trailless peak west of the Devil's Path. It is in the same range. The summit of North Dome is in fairly dense but passable spruce and balsam. There is a spectacular view at the southeast corner of the summit plateau that looks east and south. Access from the east via the Devil's Path between West West Kill and North Dome and then a bushwhack to the summit. Access from the south via Timber Lake Camp is restricted. Access is also possible from the west at Route 42, but that route requires a climb over Sherrill.
Finally, it is possible to approach North Dome from the north via Bennett Brook, but that route is over private land and you must get land owners permission. North Dome is often climbed together with Sherrill Mountain. Be sure to sign in at the summit canister.
