Hi Everyone -
We have news!!! It does look like we will be able to work on the Devil's Acre Rehab project in the month of September. The "behind the scenes" work is progressing, with measurements taken, boards being cut, boards being planed, other materials purchased, etc. It looks like we will be a "GO" for the month of September, most likely after Labor Day. Of course, as soon as we can get some definite dates, I will let you all know!
Meanwhile, to help the Catskills while we have been awaiting lean-to progress..........as many of you know, we have been partnering with the CMC, RIPs, NYNJTC and the NYSDEC to beat back the Pine Hill West Branch trail. The next date will be next Saturday, July 30th. We are planning on taking two groups up to the trail, one from Rider Hollow and one from Biscuit Brook. At this point, a great deal of preliminary work has been done (many thanks to all of those who have worked on this so far), but our goal would be to meet in the middle, somewhere around the summit of Eagle. Much work has already been done on the section from the Seager junction toward Big Indian and some from the Seager junction toward Eagle as well. And in some pretty hot, humid conditions, I might add!
If there is any way you can spare us a few hours or the day on Saturday the 30th, we would greatly appreciate it. If you can, please let me know. We will get back to you next week with start times, meeting places, etc, but if you have a preference for going in on one or the other of the approaches listed above, please let me know that as well.
