Volunteering

Hike leaders

Our hikes throughout the year to Catskill peaks and other destinations are led by an all-volunteer group of experienced hikers. New leaders are welcome.

Trail Work

From Laurie Rankin: Late last Tuesday evening I sent out two words to the most wonderful volunteers an organization could ever hope to have, I simply said I need volunteers who may have some time to go out and do trail assessments following the storms.

And in just 5 days, 26 of you folks went out and covered 96.3 miles of trails, followed your trips up with very detailed reports that I passed along to the CCCD, the TC and the DEC and it is done! All that is left is to say a huge, big, heartfelt thank you to each of you for what you did in such a short time. You are truly an amazing bunch of hikers!

The club also conducts trail work outings to our adopted trails (to Peekamoose and Table mountains) and also does roadside litter pick-up along a section of NY 214.

Conservation

The club's conservation committee chair needs volunteers to attend meetings and help monitor outside activities affecting the Catskill Forest Preserve.

Annual Dinner

The Annual Dinner Committee Chair always needs help with planning and making arrangements for the meeting held in April each year.

The Canister

We need contributors for our quarterly newsletter, The Catskill Canister, such as short stories and news items of interest to our members.
